The Postgraduate Programme in Economics of the Department of Economics of the University
of Ioannina awards Graduate Diploma in "Economics" with specialization in "Econometrics" and
"Economic Analysis and Policy".
The Department of Economics from the academic year 2022 – 2023 offers the Master's Program
(M.Sc.) entitled "Economics" in accordance with the provisions of the program's operation, the
decision of the Senate with no. 6588/7-11-2019 and the provisions of Law 4485/2017
(Government Gazette 114/t.A΄/ 4.8.2017), as amended and in force.
Within the framework of the Programme, the possibility of choosing between the following two
(2) specializations is offered:
1. "Econometrics and Data Analysis" and
2. "Economic Analysis and Policy"
The Department of Economics of the University of Ioannina offers the possibility of preparing a
doctoral thesis leading to a Doctorate in Economics with the possibility of specialization in
Econometrics and Economic Analysis and Policy. The minimum enrollment time to obtain the
Doctoral Degree is six (6) semesters and the maximum is ten (10). The Assembly of the
Department of Economics can approve an extension of the time, if/when deemed necessary.

The M.Sc. in Economics aims to provide high-level postgraduate education in economics. The
purpose of the programme is the training of scientists able to respond to the changing needs of
the labor market and the economic situation in general, as well as to contribute, through research
and specialization, to the promotion of economics. This purpose is achieved by providing a
Master’s Degree according to international academic standards as well as by preparing a Doctoral
Thesis and producing high-level original scientific research.
The purpose of the Doctoral Program is to produce high-level scientific research that advances economic science. The Doctoral Program prepares candidates who wish to pursue an academic, and more generally, research career.
